The Mindset Shift That Changed How I Lead
I stopped trying to have all the answers and started asking better questions. That one change made me a more effective leader and a better listener.
For a long time, I believed that being a good leader meant having solutions. Someone comes to you with a problem, you solve it. That is the job. Except it is not. Not really.
When you always show up with answers, you accidentally communicate that you do not trust the people around you to figure things out. You become the bottleneck. You become the ceiling.
The shift happened when I started responding to problems with questions instead of solutions. Not deflecting. Not avoiding. Genuinely curious questions. What have you already tried? What do you think is getting in the way? What would you do if I were not here?
What I found was that most people already knew the answer. They just needed space to find it. And when they found it themselves, they owned it in a way they never would have if I had handed it to them.
Leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room. It is about creating conditions where smart people can do their best work. Questions do that. Answers, too often, do not.
